A Special Journey

The day that I arrived in beautiful Victoria, BC, I had a welcome lunch to attend quickly for work. After that I went to my room to shower and change. My family asked me to text them when I would be coming out of the hotel. Which I did. Little did I realize that they were on the grounds because as I walked out to the sidewalk, I heard 2 voices calling 'Nanny......Nanny' and of course that is what the twins call me. They were quickly racing towards me, followed by their parents and my husband. It was a beautifully sunny and warm day. My son had planned the afternoon to a T. We crossed the street, and descended the stairs to the water level, where we bought our water taxi tickets. This would allow us a quick and relaxing ride over to Fisherman's Wharf. At Fisherman's Wharf, they had lunch, which I already had, but I was able to treat the babies to ice cream, and do a bit of souvenir shopping. We saw a sea lion as well as a sea otter very close in the water behind the floating shops and restaurants. It was a delightful afternoon, feeling the warmth of the sunshine, after such a long and hard winter, and just really enjoying each other's company. ~Photo is mine

It sounds like loads of fun for all of you. If I were younger I'd want to take a trip just to see an ocean, oh well, not something I am interested is doing anymore

That's disturbing @Juliaacv I'm so glad you'll never have to go through that again ..... but, how about a drive out that way one day?

@rebelann No, it would be too far of a drive for us. But we have considered riding the trans Canada scenic rail.

They just wanted to go along to support me, it was very touching. Coming back we were all on the same flight, but I was with another group. My son's first initial is the same as mine, and naturally the same last name, and that caused suspicions with the boarding passes.

Oh Marie, it felt like heaven. And then we were sitting outside on a picnic table in the sun and my son told me that he couldn't believe that I was in another province with him. I am such a home body.

I love those water taxis. Did you see the lovely houseboats that people live in? They looked like floating apartments to me.

Yes, we saw the floating homes that people live in. They are quite expensive to live in those. I have a picture to post of a floating home neighbourhood, which you cannot technically wander down the boardwalk in that area unless you live there yourself.
