Deputies with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) in Crestview Alabama answered an emergency call on Thursday afternoon when a 16 year old male teenager was reported missing from his parents' home.
One OCSO deputy studied an aerial map of the area noticed two ponds in the area and he used his knowledge of the behavior of autistic children who tend to go near water.
The deputy contacted the owner of the property who told the deputy that a person that looked like the missing teenager was seen in the area about 90 minutes earlier.
The OCSO deputies used a Drone Unit to locate the teenager hiding in dense brush along the wood line just feet from the ponds.
The teenager was returned to his relatives after sunset the same day safe and sound.

Wow that was cool, using a drone!
But anyway, I am glad they found him, I think the parents must be terrified that their child is missing and to think that he has a special needs, my heart is cryign right now...

@Deepizzaguy thanks.
Imagine those people who are normal and got lost, they still got injured, whatever, what more when these people who have special needs get lost? I don't want to think about bad things. I am just happy he was found and safe.

That is irresponsible if you have such a teenager you make sure someone is around to watch him all the time,

I know what you mean since I have a nephew who is autistic and needs to be watched closely at home.

I'm glad they had a deputy who understood autistic behaviour. So many times recently things ahev gone badly when officers don't understand how to relate to people with a different mentality.

This is true
Autistic kids do seem to like water.
And one quite recently was chasing ducks in a pond in a town near us.
