Today is the 15th anniversary of the 2011 Super Outbreak. And there looks to be a major outbreak primed for Illinois today. Praying for all my friends there. To make things worse for some of you, today’s song celebrating its 70th anniversary is country.
Linda? NO!! Dianne? NO!!! Lori’s Hubby? ENJOY!
Here’s today’s song.
#4: Crazy Arms - Ray Price
When I was little I didn’t like Ray Price’s voice AT ALL. Fast forward 30 years and I spent a car payment on the Ray Price box set from Bear Family.
(That’s car payments back in the 90s, not modern car payments.
) I saw him live in 2009 (at a benefit for Don Helms), and I have a photo of the two of us together. So see, tastes do change.
This was one of his biggest hits. This is pure cry-in-your-beer country music, with the pain in his voice, the fiddles, and the steel guitar. So if you have an aversion to country music, run! If not, enjoy another one from my 100 favorites list.

Written by Ralph Mooney and Chuck Seals
Recorded by Ray Price

I learned to love it, but I know that he was an acquired taste.

No, you stumped us even though Hubby admits he knows who Ray Price is.
