We Had Quite The Thunderstorms Overnight

Yes, lightning, thunder, heavy rain, possibly some pea sized hail, flash flooding and strong gusts of wind. It started around 8 pm last night and was still going strong when I briefly woke up at 1 am because I was hearing either hard rain or hail striking the bedroom windows. I've seen some news coverage photos this morning of downed trees, but I really don't know the extent of the county-wide damage yet. I worried yesterday when I saw the roofers working on a building of four-condo units in my neighborhood. I thought to myself, it looks like it's going to rain later Monday, how are they going to get the roof on in time? Because they were just taking off the shingles yesterday morning and I thought it was going to take a full day to do that, then they'd come back today to reshingle. Even if they tarped the roof last night, with those winds and heavy rain, I'll bet there was water damage to those units. Timing is everything when it comes to roofing.

We had heavy rain/storms yesterday, too, and then had two episodes of hail after 10 pm. I stood at my bedroom window watching the hail coming down. Some hail hit the storm window hard enough I thought it was going to come through the storm window and the glass window in my bedroom. (That happened right after we first moved into this house almost 10 years ago. Hail battered the storm window until a large hailstone came through the storm window and through my glass bedroom window. Luckily, my blackout curtains caught the hailstone and all the broken glass from my window and kept me from stepping on it and cutting my feet. The landlady wasn't happy when I called her at 8 pm to tell her the hail broke my windows. I wasn't happy when it took somebody two weeks to come and replace my windows!)
