Do you think the DC "shooter" got a shot off?

I am reading today that the fella who rushed into a hallway only one floor away from where Trump and others were gathered never got a shot off.
Further, the agent who was shot was apparently shot by one of his colleagues. I'm glad he'll be OK.
The "shooter" apparently had his shotgun out, but not his pistol. If he got a shot off with his shotgun in a closed space, there will be pellet marks in a smallish pattern somewhere in that hallway.
I am also hearing that authorities are not letting the alleged shooter meet in private with his attorneys. This is a violation of the law, as per the 6th Amendment to the Constitution.
Trump and his minions continue to say this incident shows how important a golden ballroom is.
This whole case is getting weirder and weirder.
Do you think this was just some crazy guy from California? Or that it was a set-up of some sort? I am still on the fence.

From what I saw on the Fox News website the shooter made one shot from his shotgun in the direction of the ballroom before he was tackled. The agent was hit before returning five shots. And he was not hit by friendly fire. Seems also that the bullet struck his cell phone.

I read that they thought the officer got hit by one of the others.
