I was born in 1951 and Eisenhower was president. I thought it would be fun to look back and see what prices were like in the 60s. Here's a list of a few things from that time:
Gas = 31 cents a gallon
Hamburger = 59cents a pound
Steak = averaging about 82 cents a pound
Icecream = $1.00 to $1.30
Automobile = between $2,500 and $3,000
A home = $11,900 in early 60s and $22,400 to $27,000 by 69.
Television = color was $400 - $500
Can you believe it?

Yeah, I can believe it because I was born in Feb 1952. My follks bought a house in Jan '65 for $8500. My mom sold it in '74 for $30,000. That house is now worth close to $1,000,000.
