Are you betting on the Kentucky Derby?

Yes it is Derby Day. It isn't a big deal around here unless you are a big gambler or need an excuse to go out for some drinks. It is too cold to have a party outside. I suppose you could have some people over to chill inside.
I am not a big gambler but I do like to place a small bet on the Kentucky Derby. I don't do any research on the horses. I pick based on the names and/or colors of the silks. This morning I was looking at the list of names and of course "Litmus Test" jumped out at me being a science teacher.
My ex is going out somewhere to watch the race and he said he is going to place a bet. (presumably online) I told him to bet $5 on Litmus Test to win for me.

I do not place bets on sports events for fear of losing money that I need to pay my bills.

I used to ages ago when I still spend a lot of summer weekends at Belmont Park when I lived in NYC, After it was Latvia and I no longer had the pleasure of seeing horse races. I miss all that,

I like to have a bet on the Melbourne Cup if it's possible which is about our equivalent I suppose. Good luck with your Litmus Test.
