America withdraws 5000 troops from Germany

May 4, 2026 3:30am CST
President Trump is boasting about America withdrawing 5000 of his men from Germany and you wonder why he is doing that. Germany is not at war with any one neither are the American soldiers fighting alongside Ukraine against Russia. What exactly are they doing over there in Germany?

Apparently, he was trying to show his disappointment with Germany for not supporting his war with Iran and for doing nothing to assist in the campaign. He needs to understand that each country is independent, has its own priorities, and that waging wars can disrupt them. It seems Trump is being a bit harsh with his allies and is becoming unpopular among European partners.

@ogbenishyna44 If not for the democratic government he leads, he would be on the verge of becoming an isolated country, trying to bully any nation that doesn’t align with his plans to dominate the scene.

Certainly. But in his mind, they should have jumped in to support him. He doesn't realise what a disgusting disgrace he is, and distancing oneself from him is wise

There are also American troops in Italy and Italy pays over 200 millions dollars every year to maintain those US troops. He is also withdrawing troops from Italy. Well, at least Italy is no more a target because of US troops there.

@ogbenishyna44 My country learned NOT to rely on the US. Europe has taken too long to appreciate that fact. It will be better for them to depend on themselves, and leave the US out.

America may still be a member of NATO on paper, but it can no longer be realistically thought of as an ally. They openly want to replace democratically elected European governments with nationalistic ones that are more likely to do their bidding. Trump himself has threatened both Canada and Greenland, and he seems to want Putin to win in Ukraine. In my view, those American troops now constitute a potential security threat, so I wouldn't be sorry to see them all leave.
