Mom has had her ears irrigated ! / myLot

We went to see the nurse today so that she could get the wax out of her ears so that next week she could go and have her hearing check up ….. Some may remember we went a few weeks ago but they couldn’t do the check because of the wax….the nurse then had to see the wax then make an appointment to get it removed ….what a palarva ! Anyway, she had them irrigated today ….loads of wax came out. She has her hearing check up next week….. Fingers crossed all will be okay. We hadn’t heard the phrase irrigated the ears before …..seems like a good method though ….

Ear irrigation is pretty simple to do. I did this when I worked in a doctor's office years ago. You mix a solution of very warm water, mild soap and peroxide. Get a large syringe (no needle). Put the syringe into the solution. Pull back the plunger to fill the syringe. Put a container under ear. Press the plunger of syringe to insert the solution into the ear. Make sure to hold a container under ear to catch the solution and excess wax removed.

Could she tell if her hearing was significantly better just by having removed the earwax? That must haven quite a sight to see!

@xFiacre. …..Mom’s cousin phoned just before I left to come home, she rings Mom every day. Mom told her she had had her ears irrigated and her cousin said …..” You’ve had your ears irritated “ ! That made us laugh ….
