I saw this snail early this morning on the road in front of our house. I remove it to put Mr.Snail on the vacant lot. Our street road is a busy when when during rush hour. Any vehicle could have hit and stomp on it. Poor Snail.

I think you're supposed to walk along beside the snail, not pick them up and move them... Cars won't squish you.

@rakski Well, yeah... I thought the point was seeing the snail safely across the street?

@DaddyEvil oh no, it was not crossing the street. It was walking there so I put him near the sidewalk near a vacant lot

It is commendable to assist a slow-moving snail by placing it out of harm’s way. Although it is considered an invasive species that can sometimes cause significant damage to plants when present in large numbers, it may still play a role in the ecosystem. Snails can contribute to ecological balance by participating in nutrient cycling, breaking down decomposing matter, and serving as a food source for other animals, thus maintaining some level of harmony in nature.

@rakski Some people see them as pests because when they grow large in number, they can eat your plants and become a real problem. But if there aren’t many, their presence is usually tolerable and not a threat.

I brought him to the vacant lot across our house. He is too big to be able to be carried by my small plants

Snails are very vulnerable despite their strong shell.
