Not a great night.

Went out for dinner tonight - big mistake, and expensive. It was our son’s 40th birthday so we took him and his partner out. The place tries hard and is quite nice but it just misses the mark.
It’s so disappointing when you no longer go out for dinner much and the one special time when you do go it’s not great.
It was hard to put my finger on what was wrong - pleasant, helpful staff, unintrusive music in the background where it belongs, super clean and toilets even @looeyville would be happy to use and the food I’d give 8 out of 10. But it just fell short and I’m glad to be home. Maybe I’m just getting old. Or too fussy.
I do hope for good restaurant experiences next week in France.
Are you hard to please in a restaurant?

I am not service or food picky when I eat out, but I loathe televisions in the restaurant, loud music, and people taking on the speaker phones. I seldom get disappointed but today I had a bad service experience that I might post about it in a minute.

@looeyville there was a huge TV on the wall beside us tonight but it wasn’t on. I was prepared for a fight if they tried to put it on.

Yes, I am. I often feel I could season things better than the restaurant or I find prices to be totally outrageous. I get more excited about visiting a new library or zoo.

I try to be pleasant to the employees who work inside of a restaurant.
