Banksy in the Wild

Banksy Waterloo Place

After my visit to the British Museum, I made my way to Waterloo Place. where it was reported a suspected Banksy statue had appeared, overnight, at the end of April. The BBC later confirmed it was a Banksy. There was a small crowd there, including a man smoking a huge cigar, that must have been made from old socks! Still, lots of culture vultures about that day! I have never seen a Banksy before, not even at a gallery. Seeing this one, in the wild was a bit of treat and I have been following online chats about the meaning of it. I tend towards that blindly following can lead to disaster. Photo by author

That would have been incredible to see in person. That’s really cool.

If it is the same English graffiti artist, political activist, and painter Bansky is very popular with street art and I have written by him,

Not a lot is known about him. Now his street art commands high prices at auction

I've never seen a Banksy other than online, either. Very nice and I suspect your take on it is correct. It would have been better displayed in the US, in my opinion, though, as a political statement.

He is a very political artist and right now he is needed. We have similar political tides moving here.

How interesting. I thought he only did paintings. It's a good looking statue.

Though Banksy's identity has been established, he is still an enigma. Yes, maybe blind following of leaders. That happens even in some democracies.
