Do You Remember Taking Bulky Cameras on Vacation?

Oh how I remember the days of going around with a camera strapped around my neck and sticking out like a tourist everywhere I went when I traveled. My camera was a decent camera and I had accessory lenses and filters and chargers and a camera bag, so it took up space in my luggage as well. Nowadays my iPhone takes better photos, especially zooming, than my "real" camera did. That's the only camera I use now. I don't know what to do with my old digital camera, which was a nice one. Other than @JudyEv 's husband Vince, does anybody else still use a "real" camera?

Oh, good grief yes, PLUS the worries of “how many exposures do I have left on the role” THEN taking them to Fotomat to get them developed, not knowing if it came out or not.

I always had a little pocket size Kodak camera that I carried around, but I always remember my dad with his Canon AE-1 35mm camera and all his zoom lenses. He always took that everywhere we went. I'm actually glad he did, because he captured some amazing photos with that camera, which I guess makes it all worth it in the end. I still have a lot of his old photographs, and I am amazed at the quality of his photographic skills! These days, I am like you and everyone else, I use my iPhone for taking photos, and the quality is top-notch. Oh, and remember the old Polaroid instant cameras? Those are making a comeback with the younger crowd, my daughter and a lot of her friends have one, and they love taking pictures with them and waiting for the photograph to "develop" after it spits out of the camera.

How the technology evolved. Only the professional photographer brings those big cameras because everyone has phone

I didn't get a 'real' camera until quitel late. I like those pocket and compact cameras you could hide away. In this digital age, cameras are even smaller and easier to carry

My new camera is rather large. I have yet to use it. I miss my FD88 by Sony. It used floppy disks and took great pictures.

I still like camera though I don't own one. Back then, I usually used my aunt film camera.

My parents still keep it in the cupboard. I don't know what condition it's in now. Maybe I always posed using an old camera before, but since digital came along, I've never taken pictures.

Thanks for the mention - and Vince thanks you too. Carrying his bigger camera affects his shoulder if he's not careful how he carries it. He doesn't fuss so much now if he forgets his big camera because the phone is so good.

Yes, I do. They were definitely cumbersome. For years I had a 110 and then I eventually switched to a 35mm. I do not currently own a real camera, but eventually I will for my YouTube videos.
