Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day everyone!
Yes, everyone.
To those who are Moms, to those who have a Mom-Happy Mother's Day.
It is just good to stop and reflect on the influence that your Mom has had on your life. The lessons that she taught you, the late nights spent with you reading stories and soothing fears from those frightful nightmares. And then the fun times, the memories of how she smelt, how safe you felt as you held her hand crossing the street, and the smell of her delicious cooking coming from the kitchen.
And if not your Mom, your Grandma. I was blessed with a Mom and 2 grandmothers. One of them, along with my Dad, were my favorite people in the world. I learned so many things from my Gramma, now to cut and peel apples without cutting myself-that lesson was learnt young at about 4 years, and the countless other lessons that she blessed me with.
Remember those sweet things about her, and if she is still with us, do your very best to spend time with her-that is all most of us Moms want.

That’s such a beautiful reminder. I’m a little more teary this year that in the last few, but I think there are good tears too. I’m so thankful for the time I had with her, and my grandmother as well. We are blessed.
And boy, is your family blessed to have you!

I thought of my mother-in-law a number of times today.
To raise 8 kids, 4 of them mostly on her own as a widow, was remarkable, and showed such strength.
I remember the year that we began dating and going to see everyone on Mother's Day, as they all flocked home to see her. We sat outside as it was very warm, and she had at least 8 hanging flower baskets all around her, brought to her as the cars of her children arrived, and she always had alot of lottery tickets, she loved doing scratch tickets.
And when I realize the work and dedication involved in parenting, I know that she earned every single flower petal she received.
