Soccer (football to the rest of the world) is not that popular in America, although it grows, especially in youth leagues each year. But people love to cheer for their own country, so even here the World Cup is well watched. It doesn’t matter that the American men’s soccer team is far behind the American woman’s soccer in terms of success, people still watch and root. So, I ask, does anyone care about watching the World Cup? Other than hoping for everyone’s safety, that is. *Picture if of mini resin soccer turtles in various yoga poses.

I do enjoy watching some of the matches, the techniques of the various teams always amazes me. But I was a die-hard Soccer Mom back in the day. And before he finished playing youth soccer, he began referring it, which when you live in the country as we did, required your parents to drive you, and we would watch the younger kids that he would ref play. There were times when parents would yell at the ref, and Ron would quietly pack up our lawn chairs into the trunk and take me for a walk through the neighbourhood to look at landscaping and talk about anything but soccer. He always ref'd the Day of Champs top teams games. That was very competitive and a nice way to end the summer before classes began back.

Some parents should be banned from watching their children’s games, shouldn’t they. Kids have so much fun when everyone is in it with a good attitude.

I do want everyone to be safe, but I have no interest whatsoever in the World Cup or anything related to soccer.

Not a bit, my father loved football (European football) as well as my brother, but my husband is just like me, he is not at all interested.

We don't watch it but highlights appear regularly each evening. There are some Australian girls doing well in the women's teams.

I will likely see some World Cup games on television since I like to see the star soccer players.

When my sons were younger they would watch some sports, but they were so busy going to school and working, they couldn't get into much watching during their teen years. One son played football for several years. They would watch the Super Bowl, and enjoyed watching NBA at times, but that's pretty much it. I love turtles. Those are just adorable!

I have watched the WC most of my life with a kind of rabidity that is only understood by other true fans. But I feel this particular WC won't be all that good with the US involved
