I watched Fear. It's another version of Crime and Punishment. It was made in 1946. It is very loosely based on the book. By the way, I will be on part 18 tomorrow of the audiobook. There are 19 parts. This movie has Peter Cookson, Warren William, Anne Gwynne, James Cardwell, Ernie Adams, Almira Sessions, Francis Pierlot in it.
Big Warning: there is some violence and a bad ending. Spoiler Below.
This version has changed the names of the characters and is half of the book. In this movie, a man named Larry Crain is a medical student. He overhears some other college students talk about a professor who is an unofficial pawn broker. He offers to pay for some food for a woman who sits next to him in the pub. He later gets an idea to kill the professor. He uses a fire poker (not an axe). He leaves the fire poker in the room. He doesn't take any money though. He later sees that woman again in the pub. She had gotten a job there. She says her name is Eileen Stevens. They start dating. The painter does confess to the murder of the professor, but the police know Larry did it because of some fabric fiber left in some wet paint. He was thinking of leaving with Eileen. He crosses the street and gets hit by a car. But then he is in his room. He sees the woman again and she is getting a room near his. But she says her name is Cathy. AND IT WAS ALL A DREAM.
I hate this movie. It was a stupid ending. I'm watching next Dangerous Flowers. It's like Charlie Angels.

I would hate that ending. I like reading the book first then watching the movie. The only one that seemed completely opposite to me was the Golden Compass. That was hard for me to get through.

@JordanLader I watched a few episodes of the show. I can't remember if it followed the book.

@JESSY3236 I only read the first book and watched the movie. I'm kinda curious if the show was done more closely to the book but I haven't really gotten that urge to find out.

@snowy22315 There was one more version, but I don't want to see it because it only has three actors in it.
