Staycation

Someone posted about enduring an internet outage. Had the same experience recently and since I work from home, I cannot afford to not have internet. Good thing there is a nearby hotel in my place. The outage lasted for two whole days and the announcement from the provider was late. When I learned about it, I thought about what to do. An option was to report for work in the office. that was fine but what will I do at home without internet? So I decided to call the nearby hotel and book a room for two days. It was fairly easy to book a room. I was able to request for an early check-in. I packed my laptops, my mobile monitor, and a just enough clothes for two days. When I arrived to check-in, I qualified for a late check-out. That certainly was a plus. There was also some welcome drinks and snacks sent up to my room. Glad, I was able to turn this inconvenience into a well-deserved staycation. Picture of the lobby in my floor. Didn't get to stay here long but I did spend time looking at the painting the hotel had displayed.

It has been a staycation for me for about 5 months now. I stopped working in December last year, and staying with my younger sister is like having a long vacation.

Yup, one of the advantages of living near a business district.

That sounds like a nice alternative. No internet for two days is a huge inconvenience, but I know some people have to go for longer. Which seems so odd in this day and age.

True. One would think that service providers will move heaven and earth to prevent it from happening and if it did happen, they'll work double-time to resolve it.

Thanks Judy. Not wishing for another outage but I doubt I'll take another staycation so soon.

@JudyEv true about the cost but like what you said, it turned out to be worth it.

@allen0187 There is always the cost to consider but sometimes I guess it's worth it.

Wow, what hotel offers services like that in situations like yours? Hopefully, the stay was great and both the internet and the room were thoroughly enjoyable.
