Payment glitch

In April, I paid my mom’s mortgage for her on the mortgage’s website. While doing that it didn’t show that the payment went through so I paid it again. When I looked to see if there are any scheduled payments, the payment appeared twice. I contacted someone via chat about it and they told me that I should not worry about the charge appearing twice and that it will appear only once in the bank transaction. I logged into her bank some days later but there was no transaction for the mortgage payment. I went back to her mortgage account online and did not see any payments either. Clearly nothing went through. I had to try paying the mortgage a third time. This time the payment successfully went through and the charge appeared in her bank account a few days later to confirm that. But it was already May when I made the payment. Thankfully, no late charges were given. On another note, I just went into her DEP water bill account to see how much I have to pay for the current water bill. The amount only showed about $26. I found that very odd when I went into the bill itself to see what’s going on. I noticed that the amount previously paid was double what the bill was. I logged into her bank account to check past bill pay payments and it turned out I had paid the same bill twice, just a few weeks apart. That explains why the current bill amount to be paid is only about $26. I have no idea how or why I ended up paying it twice. I’m usually very careful and detail oriented with things.

I hate it when things don’t work as they should.

Things seem to have to be unraveled and sorted out,

It happens to the best of us. At least things were sorted and the bills got paid.

If I hadn’t checked her bank account I wouldn’t have known the mortgage payment never went through.

@lovebuglena It's a good thing you did. Glitches like that happen all the time and when they do, the "payment" drops off before being processed. I'm glad the payment finally made it.

This can happen easily. Perhaps you were a bit distracted at the time.
