Blood Sugar Can Be So Confusing...

....if you are a diabetic, especially.
Some things can make my sugar spike some days, then others not. I know, I take insulin which matters too...
Like today, I took insulin earlier before my first meal, and it worked as it should. And my sugar was not bad before meal #2, in fact it was kind of low, so I didn't take more insulin. My sugar hasn't moved much since that meals. Other days, these meals would make my sugar go through the roof
Just find it so confusing sometimes!
Would you? Do you find it confusing if you are diabetic?

I am currently borderline. I need to cut down on the sweets.

Sorry you are. Low carb would help get you out of the borderline I am sure. I got mine out of even borderline numbers while doing low carb (without any veggies), but that was years ago and before my pancreas was shot and I had to go on insulin.

Yes it can be. We're told that if you eat certin tipes of foods, your blood sugar will spike. We're also tought that some carbs move slower in the botdy than others which won't spike it. It is a pain to deal with. All you can do is listen to your body and keep an eye on things to the best of your ability.

I don't eat the slower carbs, I am sure lol. But I just don't get the inconsistency with the same foods lol

@MommyOfEli2013 It's likely your body. And how much insolin you take and when you take it. If you take too much for example, your sugar will reflect that. If you skip it, when you shouldn't it can go to high. The body also gets used to the foods you eat, so many factors apply.

@kaylachan Nope, even when I take the same (appropriate) amount it can still differ. Just the fun (sarcasm) of having a sucky pancreas. I know if I don't take any it can go high, or too much it can go too low, but that is not what I was really meaning.
I just know I ate very similar foods/carbs yesterday and my sugar was high all day (200+) now today I never went over like 150.
Curious what will happen when (if) I cut out carbs a lot. Haven't really tried since my pancreas gave up.

Well you are lucky in that area, it is no fun. I am sure it is not easy for anybody, but it can be controlled well by not eating carbs. Trouble is, carbs are too good lol....and just eating meat is blah lol. Maybe if I could afford amazing steaks to eat daily lol

Oh, you poor thing. I'd be a crazed looney for sure if I was a diabetic. I love sugar too much. I hope you figure it out.

Well, I don't need pity, been dealing with this for over 15 years. Only the confusing with my pancreas pretty much shutting down more recently. I can't seem to give up the sugar/carbs....though I know it is for the best. I hope to just cut it down some and focus more on protein. Thats good if you don't have to get up the sugar...

No worries, it is okay. Just wish pancreases didn't have to fail.
