Thoughts about Dreams

Yesterday afternoon Harper, Willow, Grandpa and I all came across a really tiny bunny. It couldn't have weighed more than a pound. It must have wandered away from the nest. A little later we found another bunny, just a little bit bigger, perhaps twice that size. the girls were so happy to see it just sitting there and watched it as it wiggled it's little nose as it looked at us. Their dog, Ellie, is 13 or so years old. She is at the end of her precious life. She barely has the strength to climb the stairs. When she lies down her muscles usually just give out and she falls like a bag of bones. It is sad. I think that both girls know what is coming. I just have that feeling. Both of them told me yesterday that they would love to have a pet that they can care for and look after. They of course were referring to the bunny. I quickly suggested that they get a goldfish. I did not want to dwell on Ellie's demise. As I slept last night I had a dream. I believe that the encounter with the bunny affected my dream. My hubs and I were young, I could tell because we were in a mall, and there really aren't malls around anymore. We found a tiny kitten who had been abandoned. We quickly adopted it. We brought it home. Since we had to get a cat box-we both cannot stand the smell of kitty litter, we decided to find a better home for the kitten. And who showed up in my dream to take the kitten? Yes, it was our favorite resident cat lover @NJChica. She was supper happy to take the kitten and since we hadn't yet named it she was excited to give it a proper name. Strange how things we see and things we read can come to life in another story, and an interesting one at that. ~Photo is mine of the bigger of the 2 bunnies

Sorry about Ellie. All good things must come to an end Jax friend's dog..is nearly the end of his life as well. I will be surprised if he lasts more than a year..2 at most. Jax was so adorable when he was young. He has always been a really good dog. A bunny or kitten might be nice for the girls

My son told me that if someone had told him 5 years ago that he would prefer raising his children without a dog, he would not have believed him, but he feels that way now. He finds it so hard to give the proper attention to everyone. The girls do extra curricular things twice a week, he's out twice a week for his own sports, plus a wife, home, and yard. That is alot to tackle happily. He also is ready to start travelling more now that the girls have taken their first plan ride and showed how well they liked it.

@snowy22315 Most cats don't travel well, and I cannot stand the smell of a cat box.

I pray Ellie finds more strength so she can enjoy the endstage of life. Give her a big hug for me. Hmmmm, goldfish ..... they'll have to learn to clean the bowl and of course those don't live very long. I wish I could remember my dreams the way you remember yours.

That's too funny @Juliaacv I am sure Ellie knows she is very much loved but I also know how hard it is for her humans to realize she is on her way to that bridge.

I believe that Ellie has enjoyed her endstage of life, with only eating every other day she isn't far now. I remember my dreams right down to the smallest detail, always have. Just don't ask me what I did yesterday while awake, that I forget.

That makes me so sad about Ellie, but I’m glad she had such a wonderful life. A goldfish is a much better option now, isn’t it, than a bunny. What a gift though, to see such cute little bunnies out about about!

It is sad about Ellie, but her health has been declining since late last autumn. She sleeps the majority of the time, and only eats/drinks every other day. There was a large koi pond at the resort that they stayed at last month in Victoria, and they loved seeing the fish, so maybe a little bowl with a couple of goldfish might not be a terrible idea.

I was also trying to post a photo, but I got an error message, shame that I cannot see the bunnies. Good idea to suggest a goldfish. I love cats and I think I would have adopted the kitten. I had the litter box of the cat I adopted outside in a protected corner under the porch. He could get out from the cat door when he needed and no bad smell inside the house.

Oh the little bunny photo is so cute. I told the girls that I am making them a book of pictures, mostly from the trip, but Harper asked me to put the picture of the bunny in her book. They both really love bunnies.

@LadyDuck They have always loved bunnies. Klaudia had 2 12 inch bunnies made up by a Polish woman here in the city. They are knitted and she always placed 1 baby beside a bunny (one is pink which is Willow's and the other is off white, that is Harper's) each month during their first 18 months and she would be able to see the growth in the length of the girls. Bunnies seemed to be popular items to find on clothing during the time that they were young, and still are today for their size.

It's sad to watch our pet friends age. The girls will be lost without her. The bunnies would be really cute. I hope they get the pictures fixed soon. I couldn't load one yesterday either but seen a couple people can.

They will miss Ellie, but they seem to know that she is failing, and will not recover. She sleeps most of the time and only eats/drinks every other day, it will not be long. She has had a good run in life.

@Juliaacv Kids understand more than we give them credit for. She is close if she is not eating much. Hope she can go peacefully. I feel Duke doberman getting closer too. But that bull head hasn't gave up yet.

@wolfgirl569 They are both very observant children, and Harper has a memory like an elephant, she will long remember Ellie's final weeks and days. I believe that her time is coming soon. Last weekend my son told me that he felt that she was living out her final time, he could tell by the look in her eyes. He wants her to go peacefully, on her own. I am sorry that Duke doberman is nearing his end, he too, has lead such a good life.

Dreams are so weird. I'm always amazed at the scenarios the brain can concoct.
