Exactly how stingy am I?

I have an electric hand mixer I use for things like beating cream and mixing cakes when I’m in a hurry. I’ve had it for quite a few years and the beaters have started to fall apart; the plastic bits that hold them all together are showing the strain and one part has broken off. I held it together with an elastic band for a while and to my surprise that actually worked but finally I decided I should really replace the whole thing.
So I looked for a new version of the same thing and found one from the same brand for a reasonable price (£25) and decided to treat myself. I ordered it, collected it the same day and was very pleased.
But then I got an email from the supplier asking me to review my purchase, and when I clicked the link it took me to the item description and there was the mixer at 20% off – now £20!
If I hadn’t seen that of course I would have been quite happy, but now I’m annoyed. So the question is: do I order the same thing again and then arrange to return my mixer and at the same time pick up the new one and get a £5 refund, or is that just too ridiculously mean?

I know that some would do that, but not I.
We once bought a new gas barbeque and it went on sale the following day, so I just brought the receipt in and they honoured the price and gave me the difference.
But what we save on here and there makes up for sales that we missed, as in your case with this one particular item.

Just now
I would find that too much bother. I am stingy with my time. I might mention it in my review, though.

No, I wouldn’t, but I understand your annoyance. I would, however, contact them and see if they would give me a 20% refund. I once contacted a company and told them their shipping costs were way too high, and would they not charge me shipping this time. To my shock, they actually waived the shipping fee. (I simply could not afford the purchase unless they waived the shipping fee). So, it never hurts to ask.
