I finally finished listening to Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky. He has written other books and two of the them I want to read later on.
Big Warning: there is some violence, suicide, and some sad parts Semi spoiler below.
In this book a man named Rodon Raskolnikov is a student and he owes rent to his landlord. He goes to Alyona Ivanovna to pawn some stuff to pay his rent. Alyona is an old pawnbroker. Instead of paying his rent, he goes to a pub where he overhears some people talking about Alyona. He gets an idea to kill Alyona. He gets an axe from the broiler room. He does kill her and he also kills Lizaveta Ivanovna, Alyona's sister. He later finds out that his sister is to get married. He doesn't like his sister's fiancé. After exposing how bad the fiancé, he learns that his sister's former boss wants her too. Her former boss supposedly can see ghosts. The former boss does commit suicide. Rodon is a witness of a man getting run over. This is where he meets Sofya. Sofya's dad is the one who is run over. Her dad dies. Rodon gives her money for the funeral. She sticks by him when he goes to confess to the murders. She even moves to Siberia when he goes to prison. His sister marries his friend. He gets seven years in prison.
I liked this book. Now I'm listening to The Future by Naomi Alderman.

@Jessy3236 The Brothers Karamazov and The Idiot are equally magnificent.

It's quite gloomy Jessica.
You wouldn't need to be a manic depressive and read that lol

that's why this book and author belongs to a realism period; everything is so real, not making anything pretty. i felt bad when he confessed cause, i was on his side; he had a tough life and that old lady was mean.
