Do you decorate graves?

Memorial Day is next week, and that is when people usually decorate graves. My immediate family (mom, dad, sister, brother-in-law) do not do that. I remember my grandmother did, and she’d make an arrangement for my grandpa, but they kept getting stolen (there was a stand on a corner that sold arrangements for graves, and she thinks they’d steal them to resell). I tell you, there is a special place in hell for people who steal off graves. It made my grandmother cry, but she kept decorating his resting place.
Do you guys decorate graves?

Actually my father would paint his mom's and dad's grave with colorful paint HAHAH. Every year during All souls day we always paint my grandparent's grave colorful. before they got pink, magenta, purple, gold and so much more, one of the advantage of this is when we go to the cemetery we can easily find their grave since there are a lot of people. at first some may laugh on us for painting other colors but the following year we saw some of the graves were painted in different colors too! hahahaha

Not on Memorial Day but one time when I was up in PA for some spring holiday I decorated my grandparents's graves.

We do not decorate graves in my family.
My first grandparent passed in December one year.
There was just a mound of dirt, no grass covering it and no stone until the following spring.
That first 6 months or so, we had to visit the grave and leave flowers on a regular basis.
One time we went, and left a wreath of flowers, and my uncle called and asked if we had gone to visit her grave, and then he told my mother that she had left them on someone else's grave.
She felt awful, but made my Dad drive all of the way to that cemetery and made him (not her) grab the wreath and put it into the car and drive it down a few rows to put it out there.

Since my relatives who are deceased live far away from Louisiana, my relatives and myself do not decorate their graves.

My parents are buried in a Military cemetary. Daddy served, but passed many years later from lung cancer, and Mom had a plot with him. We don’t typically visit ON holidays because it might be crowded. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I’ve never actually decorated (I also don’t know the rules for that at this cemetery). However, we’ve left flowers on their grave before.
Stealing off someone's grave is absolutely disgusting. I'm so sorry that kept happening to your grandmother.

Usually about a couple of times in Latvia we would bring some flowers to the grave where Martin's mom and dad were, My parents are in the countryside and we could not get there too often,

Not any more. When I was a child we lived literally 100 yards from our local Chapel cemetery where many of my mother's family are buried - her mother and father, aunts and uncles, maternal grandparents, and now her brothers and sister too. We used to regularly go and cut the grass around the graves and put flowers. But then gradually my mother had less and less time and it sort of fell away. Also because some graves had no-one local to tend to them, they got very overgrown unless some kind person did some extra work, so nowadays one person tidies the whole cemetery (I don't know if he's employed or a volunteer). And now I live 180 miles away.

I don't decorate my husband's grave. I'm hoping my SIL will want to see it when she comes. It's been a long time since I've been there.

I don't know who would do that sort of thing... that'd be hard to deal with, I am sure.
We always have for long as I can remember, and still do with my aunt every year. It's always a big job because we decorate 10 of them now I believe
