This is an old film of the 40s. I'd seen it before but came across it on YouTube and was in the mood. Joseph Cotten is in the lead as a struggling artist. He begins to be seeing a pretty young girl. A ghostly excited young thing, full of life and he becomes obsessed with her. She appears at different stages in her life and he does her portraits. His other work is less than interesting but his portraits of Jennie make him rich. Jennifer Jones portrays Jennifer and it is astounding how she portrays four or five different stages of her life so well. It's a romantic fantasy, well acted and one of David Selznick's best.

I love Joseph Cotten. He was absolutely brilliant in The Third Man, and it’s one of the worst injustices in cinematic history that all people can talk about with that movie is Orson Welle’s entrance.
