A bit more about Kiva

I’ve spoken before about lending money to various individuals through an organisation called Kiva, an international nonprofit organisation that connects people through crowdfunded loans. The recipients of the loans are mostly in third world countries and find it difficult, if not impossible, to get a loan through the usual channels. Over a few years, I’ve donated four amounts of $25. As each loan is paid off, I relend to another person. My small contribution has so far helped 14 people in ten different countries. You choose when you want your loan to go, which might be to individuals or to a collective. I like that I don’t have to keep forking out money but the little I have contributed continues to help people so much worse off than me. The photo was taken in Nepal.
