I read somewhere today that Africa spans four hemispheres – north, south, east and west. I didn’t really know about east and west hemispheres but it seems the Western Hemisphere lies west of the Prime Meridian (0° longitude) and east of the 180th meridian and the Eastern Hemisphere is the other half. It covers almost 12 million square miles and the second largest continent after Asia.
There is an online Seterra quiz to place all the names of the African states. On a good day, I can do this. Sometimes one or two elude me which is most annoying.
Did you know about the east and west hemispheres? The photo is mine, taken at Longleat Safari Park in Wiltshire, England.

Yes, Africa is the only continent that spans all four hemispheres, I remember we learnt that in school. Africa is the second largest continent after Asia. I am sure I would fail to name all African states, too many changed their name since I was a student.

Nope no idea..I would not be able to label African states if you paid me, although when I was young I knew a lot of them. Alot of the names have changed.

I gave myself a challenge as I had no idea where any of them were.

I'd never heard of east and west hemispheres. That was quite a surprise to me.
