J. Edgar Hoover ran the FBI from 1924 to 1972, nearly 48 years. He was 29 years old when he took over the bureau. He spent his time working up profiles on presidents, judges, and anyone he felt was a disadent. Though he is famous for modernizing law enforcement he is also famous for using illegal surveillance, harassment and abuses of power.

I have seen vlogs on You Tube talking about how J Edgar Hoover had ways to keep politicians in check during his tenure as the F B I top spot.

Oh, ya he did. Did a lot of illegal things. Had info on several movies stars too.
