The Great Bra Adventure

I'm not exaggerating when I say that my mother-in-law had 95 bras when we moved her from her apartment to the Alzheimer's Memory Care Facility. We were able to talk her out of about half of them, but she still had 40 when she moved into nursing care.
For any of you gentlemen out there who are wondering - NO, no woman needs 40 bras.
So she's lost some weight (not since going into the Memory Care Unit, before that) and she's also 83 and womens' breasts change, so her bras weren't fitting her correctly.
MIL went with her sister-in-law twice to buy bras, but both times she didn't try them on and bought the totally wrong size and cut off the tags and lost the receipt so we weren't able to return them. They were also plunging push-up bras for a woman of 30, not 83. We donated them. She's out about $120 worth of bras at least.
So we put our foot down and told her she was going to have to get professionally bra fit by the experts in the intimates department at Macy's. Well, she agreed to it. Now we finally know her proper size and style to fit her best. So far we've bought 3 bras for her in the right size and she gave up 15 of her 40 old bras. Our goal is to weed out more of the old bras that aren't the right size or style.
But this has definitely been "The Great Bra Adventure" with her.

@looeyville That’s a lot of cups. I suppose if some more were to be surreptitiously subtracted she’d notice straight away.

Oh, my. That's a lot of bras, good grief! I went way down in size when I lost weight. I donated the ones I could no longer wear, it's good that you did that.
I have mentioned my Aunt so many times--she traveled for years for Maidenform back in her heyday, to help set it up in department stores, etc. She was a huge advocate for being professionally fitted, so as sister and I reached the ages of needing a bra, she promoted this. Many people who lose weight don't realize that they are going to lose it in the bust, but it sure does happen. Maybe the ''Great Bra Adventure'' be over with very soon!

Wow, that truly sounds like "The Great Bra Adventure"! Moving a loved one into memory care is already such a massive, emotional task, and managing a 95-bra collection on top of it takes some serious patience. You are definitely not exaggerating—that is a staggering number of undergarments, and you managed the situation with so much grace and a great sense of humour.
I personally don't need 40 bras

I was going to suggest what Fiacre did. Just sneak out one or two every few weeks.
