First responders answered an emergency call from a person who reported seeing five missing kayakers who were in Emory River Tennessee who needed to be rescued on Saturday.
First responders which included the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, Morgan County Emergency Management Agency, and the National Park Service first responder came to rescue to one kayaker who was on a riverbank while the other four kayakers were on the other side of the river.
Rescue personnel were able to rescue the four other kayakers and escort them back to the shore.

Is that why I'm a little bit afraid of kayaking? I mean, there are scarier things, like diving and skydiving, but I'm a little panicky about kayaking.

Kayaking and rowing a boat is tougher than it appears to be.

I wonder what happened here, for all of these kayakers to get into trouble; maybe the river was extra rough that day. It sounds like the kayak turned over.
They were lucky to avoid injury, and to all be rescued

Most likely it was rough waters that caused the accident.
