Closing supermarkets …..

Yes, it was on the news today that one of our supermarket chains are going to be closing several of their stores. My Mom was on the phone to me earlier as her cousin had phoned her to ask if our local store was one of those closing. It was the first Mom had heard about it so of course she started to worry. It is one of the few places that she feels confident to drive to now. The other store is a bit further away and bigger and she prefers the smaller store. Anyway, finding out which stores are closing is a job for me for tomorrow. The supermarket in question is Morrisons. Don’t you just hate it when your favourite stores close down !

I really hope the one that she feels comfortable in is not one closing. It’s always the “manageable” stores that seem to get the ax, isn’t it.

I hope your Mom's store isn't closing. I hate when that happens, just like I hate when they discontinue an item that I like.

Yes and no. If I was going to a store all the time it might bother me, but honestly, it doesn't. We still have one Winn-Dixie left after Aldi bought it.

It is sad when a local supermarket closes for business for good.

Yeah. Though I've had few experiences of stores closing, though a notable one is Toys R Us, many small local restaurants and other interesting businesses are closing, and sometimes it makes me feel like there's less of a sense of community when places close. I know how you feel.

It could be frustrating but we just gotta find an alternative

During and after the pandemic, many stores were closed and felt bad that I cannot do my groceries in their facilities now.

Oh yes, I hated when my favourite store closed down years ago. I had to find a replacement, but I still miss my store.

@traceyjayne It’s the biggest, busiest branches that survive. Our Lidl is getting its self service tills installed this week - I’m not pleased. I got a free lemon this week.

That will be very disappointing - and worrying - for your Mum if it's 'her' store that closes.

At the moment at 88 I’m proud she has the confidence to drive to there ….she won’t drive to the next nearest….too many busy roads ….

Yeah! I'll feel the same if my favorite supermarket close. It feels different when you grocery shop at a supermarket you always go to because you already know it by heart and mind hahahah you dont forget anything even without making a list. when I go to a different supermarket, i always forget things and it takes me so long because Im not familiar with the place.
