A young white middle-class student called Henry Nowak was murdered by a Sikh man last year in England. Legally they can carry a knife called a Kirpan for religious reasons. The court case finished this week and the Sikh was found guilty and will do 21-years.
The controversy was the police body worn video. The lad was walking home from a night out at 3:am. A confrontation took place and Henry was stabbed five times, collapsing to the ground unable to breathe, his lungs filling with blood. The killer, realising he had gone too far, called the cops, claiming this guy had racially attacked him. The cops arrived with Henry on the deck. Henry told the cops he had been stabbed. The police did a quick body check and didn't believe him. They believed the Sikh and handcuffed Henry as he lay dieing. The kid died soon after.
In court we heard the guy had a fixation with weapons and the racism claim was simply wrong. He just jumped an innocent guy and did him. His family protected him after the crime.
The controversy here is the cops believed the Sikh, not because they assessed the situation but the cops are scared of being fired for making a mistake around ethnics being victims of crime. Their mindset was to believe the Sikh to avoid any racism issues.
If Henry had been black the video would have started a riot, empty Footlockers galore and a free TV time all around, an excuse for violence. But for handful of right wing haters looking for a ruck nobody really cared. Most think the cops made a mistake .It happens. What this video probably proves is police are not that racist in arrest when black men do die, just incompetent sometimes.

This is a very tragic and disturbing case, especially for Henry’s family. It sounds like there are serious questions about how the situation was handled and whether more could have been done to help him sooner. Cases like this often raise difficult conversations about police decision-making, bias, and accountability.

We've seen some awful body cam videos of police violence here. 'Thugs in uniform' is a good name for them.
