The Stuck Truck Total Is Now Up To 9

United States
June 4, 2026 2:00pm CST
Like I mentioned in a prior post earlier this week, they have closed a major interstate here in Louisville, KY so vehicles are taking surface streets and side roads. There's one particular overpass/underpass that is called "the can opener" where trucks tend to get stuck despite all the signage and warnings about the clearance height of the overpass. As of midnight last night there have already been 9 trucks stuck in that one single overpass in the past 3 days. Truck drivers need to pay better attention or find better work-around routes.

The worst I every saw was a long truck jammed under an underpass and cut open on top like with a can opener, Took some time to recover it,

When my first husband trucked they were warned about the low overpasses when they were dispatched. Companies do not want their equipment damaged or to pay for damages to overpasses and such. I do not know why they are not seeking out better choices.

I have heard companies use special apps to show routes where there trucks fit under every bridge in that particular route. How hard is it for everyone to get access to that information? I mean, really.

Is it that the truck drivers didn't see the warning sign or they just chose to ignore it

Hope they got those vehicles out. The 'can opener' is certainly living up to its name.

I don't think they really have many options. GPS is going to give them the path of least resistance.

I was always on the lookout to make sure our motor-home could fit under roads/bridges when we were in France.

Maybe, they can let out the air in their tires a bit if the gap is minimal!

I wonder if they using GPS. Over here, it seems many of them don't give out any information on clearances.

I've seen vehicles get stuck before, in snow or in mud, but I've never seen anything like this!
