Where do people find old silverware and old coins in real life?

I’ve been seeing a lot of FB Reels lately about shops buying old silverware and old coins, even some that go as far back as 1945 or earlier. What surprised me is that even just one genuine silver piece can already be turned into instant cash. I kind of get where these usually come from, like old households, inherited stuff, or items from well to do families that were later stored, sold, or just left behind. So it makes sense how they end up circulating again. But what really got me curious is how these things are still showing up today. It feels like they should be rare already, but they still seem pretty common in these buying shops. In my case, the old coins we have are mostly from the 1970s onward, so nothing really that old or made of silver like the ones I keep seeing online. I guess I’ve gotten interested in this “treasure hunting” idea and started wondering where people actually find these kinds of items cheaply in real life.

O have a box full of coins, I inherited from my grandparents and great grandparents. I also have some very old that my husband received from a coin collector, those are really old, from the ancient Roman Empire. I have plenty of coins from the 1970, spare change I got during our travels through Europe, now those coins are no more used as we switched to a common currency in Europe in the year 1999.

Lol We have a coin collection and some of the coins are pre 1800, never mind 1970. We have a lot of coins made of silver, in the late 1800,s and early 1900,s which are valuable because of the silver content

I inherited my great grandmother's silverware from my mother before she passed away. It's still in the wooden case my great grandfather bought in in. I also worked in a convenience store when I was a young man and anything I saw an interesting coin or bill in the cash drawer, I bought it and have held onto them since then. I have original Silver Certificates that are supposed to be worth a few dollars, a walking Liberty Silver Dollar that is worth more than the dollar I traded for it and several sets of coins I bought from the Mint as I grew older. I've also got one 1943 Wheat Penny that is worth several hundred dollars I found in the yard at our last house. (I had it appraised at the time.) I really need to go through all that stuff and write it down and what it's worth so my daughter knows what she has when I pass away.
