Here in the US a lemon is a bad car that requires repeated repairs after purchase. In many cases you can sue the dealer or whoever you bought the car from under consumer protection laws known as lemon laws.. This was a very big judgment. Have you ever had a lemon? Sad to say I had a couple in my vehicle owning career. These were sadly before lemon laws existed.

Its really a big judgement..it could be frustrating when you have to repair a newly purchased car severally..the dealership should be sued for all they got

They should be held liable if a vehicle is repeatedly breaking down.

We do not have the lemon law persay here, but if you have a lemon, and you bought it new, quite often you can work with the dealership for a dealer buy-back. Which to me is a bit of a joke, because if you owned a vehicle that was a lemon why would you want to replace it with another lemon, unless you get a lime instead. I know of 2 people who have had to go that route. We've never really had a lemon, we have been lucky and have managed to drive the wheels off of our cars, except for the last 2, but we no longer buy from that company as we've learned our lesson.

@snowy22315 My last GM was like that, and so was my hubby's. Hopefully the VW lasts us for lots of km's as they are known to last a long time without alot of repairs.

No, I never have. My dad is really good with cars so he’s always been able to tell if a car is worth the purchase. I’m glad lemon laws help people protect themselves.

California takes that stuff very serious so I never have either. They better considering the prices we pay.

Yes, nobody deserves to get stuck with a bad car they paid thousands for.

I had two that would have fit that category. It was quite awhile ago..I don't really remember how it all worked out.I probably convinced the dealers to take them back or something, or traded them. Yeah, I think I traded the one..the first one..maybe the same.

Yes, an expensive lemon and the dealer brought it back at full price and has lent us a car until the new one we ordered was available. It would have costed a lot to rent a car during 3 months, we paid nothing.

We don't have that kind of law here.

Although we've often bought second-hand cars, we've always been satisfied with them.

So far there ain't no lemon car we owned if it is newly purchased but buying a second hand would consider a lemon. Gladly my uncle own a shop to fixed cars or vehicles just in case something happen.
