Football cancelled and Granddaughter is poorly !

So, this is our weekend to have the Grandkids…….
Last night 30 minutes before they were due to arrive we get a text ….
They aren’t coming tonight …..
Grandson hasn’t got football
Can we pick up Granddaughter in the morning and take her to dance …..
Okay …..
Then 10 minutes before we are due to leave to pick her up she texts…. ‘Im poorly, I don’t want to go ‘
I got The Mister to check with Daughter …..I know Granddaughter will have seen the rainy weather and not wanted to get up ….
Anyway, Daughter said that Granddaughter said she has a sore throat so she can miss dance…. ( personally I’m still not convinced )
So, we don’t get to see them this weekend after all.

Oh dear poor thing l hope she feels better soon. I guess you were disappointed not to have them for the weekend. We rarely get to see them these days as they are all doing their own things. Going to clubs staying overnight with their friends or vice versa or going to birthday parties. The next time they come you will be excited for you & them.

@Traceyjayne my grand daughter is 16 this month, the boy is 12 & the youngest girl is 8 in August & I love them all to bits. They bring so much joy to us!

@garymarsh6 yes, they are amazing and I love them to bits ….as long as they keep going to football and dance they will come for a sleepover …..im dreading the time they give up ….i dare say they won’t visit so often then.

Yes. Grandson was 14 last month and Granddaughter will be 10 at the end of this month …..so I know it won’t be long before they would rather be with their mates ….

We don't have any plans for this weekend. I'm sorry you don't get to see your grandkids, though. That would be annoying.

I just wish we were told earlier …. We only get weekends anyway, so, we could have gone out last night and gone out for the day today ……

@Traceyjayne Mom took my SIL to court because she wouldn't let us see the kids after my brother passed away. The judge said it was just like getting joint custody in a divorce and ruled that mom got the kids every other weekend and Wednesday evening every week... My SIL was really upset! She still refused to let mom see the kids so mom took a policeman with her to pick the kids up. The policeman said that since mom had a court order, my SIL could let mom take the kids or she could go to jail and mom would get the kids anyway.
After the kids were 14. they could choose if they still wanted to see mom...
I agree, your daughter should have let you know earlier so you and your hubby could have gone out.

She probably just didn't want to go, but yeah it is a little unfair to have you get all excited and prepared to have them and they didn't show.

I skipped school a few days without being really sick. Mum was pretty hard to fool though.

I did that too ….it wasn’t that I didn’t like school , I loved it ….even ended up working in schools, but sometimes you need to take a break and recharge your own batteries …..

Yes, I miss them when we can’t get to see them ….only two weeks to wait though …..
