I have been going through some depression for the last couple months. I find that when I am in this low mood I am rather sensitive and tend to cry easily. I always catch myself feeling a bit off kilter about it too. As a society we seem to be made to feel weak. Especially boys and men. But it's actually a them thing, not ourselves. Society can be so mean. Crying is exclusive to our species. It makes us rather unique. It is a function to express extreme emotion. Why be made to feel like a weakling? It's actually a very interesting thing, crying. It releases the feel good endorphins and oxytocin known as the "love hormone". Some feel it requires a more advanced stage of emotional development to cry over something like a work of art. We cry to show our needs to others. It also shows we are picking up on the gravity of things going on around us. Personally I feel it it is good to cry. It is rather refreshing. It can also show more intimacy in our relationships. So, what do you think?

I hope you get in better mood and have better times. Crying has often been socially considered low especially for boys. Yet it does makes us feel lighter at times. I was not aware about the bit about Endorphins and Oxytocin but well, that must be something scientists have discovered after a lot of research. Have a great day.

Yes it is good to cry to release your feelings but I am sorry to hear you have been feeling it for a while. Please try to find someone to talk to about it. There are plenty of support groups around to help you. There is a lot of help out there! You are not alone!
