First responders from Smith County near Big Sandy Texas answered an emergency call just after midnight on Friday when four people were on a small boat and two kayaks in the Sabine River when the boats were taking on water.
The four persons managed to tread water to get to the shore safely when the first responders came to assist Amanda McGowan, Michael Schuerman and two others launched a flat bottom boat to go fishing, look for rocks and petrified wood when the boat hit a log which caused the boat to capsize.
Amanda and Michael held on to a log until their companions used their kayaks to try to get them into the kayaks that capsized due to the excessive weight.
The group managed to ask for help by using lit a fire in the riverbank when a drone from the game wardens saw the fire and sent help after the game wardens received a cellphone call from the group to rescue them.
Game wardens were able to locate the four members of the group around 4:15 am safe and sound. Thank goodness no one was hurt in the rescue mission.

That is true since when it rains, it pours.

That was certainly a line of mishaps there. The kayak capsizing must have been upsetting too. It was good that they appear to have stayed level-headed, and were able to raise the alarm to be rescued.

That is true since alligators were in the river at the same time that the accident happened.
