The Indian Giant Squirrel

United States
June 10, 2026 12:37am CST
No, not Native American as in USA, but from India. This giant squirrel is beautifully colored almost as if somebody painted him multi-colors. This squirrel can grow up to 3 ft long, hence "giant" and lives in the forests of India, hence "Indian." It can weigh 3-4 lbs and has a long bushy tail. There's more I found out about the squirrel, but I mostly just wanted you to see a photo of it because it's so unique.

There's something a bit weird about seeing a giant version of an animal you are used to seeing quite small!

We see squirrels plenty around our house but they are of smaller in size and not so colorful. They have black stripes on their back. I have never seen this kind.

Wow, I had never seen one of those before! The colors almost do look painted on, like someone decided a regular squirrel just was not exciting enough and turned the brightness all the way up ??
