A 48 year old woman from Phoenix Arizona went missing on Tuesday from a trail near Telluride Colorado when the son of the missing woman contacted the San Miguel County Sheriff's Office (SMCSO). Deputies of the SMCSO Search and Rescue went to Wood Lakes hiking area where the son reported his mom was seen last. The son was concerned that his mom did not have the proper equipment to survive an overnight stay in the backcountry. The rescue team began searching for the missing woman 12 miles west of Telluride in the Uncompahgre National Forest and Lizard Head Wilderness. The rescue team found the missing woman two hours later near the intersection of Woods Lake Trail and Navajo Lake Trail in Dolores County around 11,200 feet in elevation. Deputies of the SCMSO and the Dolores County Sheriff's Office escorted the woman down the trail where she was reunited with her son. The woman was not injured but she was cold and lost. Thank goodness for the deputies doing their job to locate a missing person. Link is msn.com/en-us/news/us/,,,

I hate to hear of people hiking alone. I don't think it's a good idea.

That is true since her son was concerned about her wellbeing.

It's odd that she was right at the trails but still lost. Maybe she didn't know which one to take at the intersection.

I am in agreement with you that the woman stayed put so that the deputies could find her and reunite her son.

It's good that they found her when they did. Cold and lost at that altitude is not ideal The son was right to be concerned Great job by the rescuers finding her soon
