I am still shocked when mom and my sister told me the bag snatching incident involving my sister at the grocery store yesterday. So here's what happened.
Its a holiday yesterday because its the 128th year of Philippine Independence , schools, and some government offices were on break no classes no work. My mom and my sister decided to have a grocery shopping, they took the bus going to the mall and they will meet my brother who happens to work near the place.
To make the story short they arrived at the grocery with my brother and my niece. There were lots of shoppers that time because its a holiday. Usually its a routine for us to get a push cart to place the things we bought. And yesterday it was kinda different. They chose a push cart before enteing the grocery, it was unusual because normally my sister is attentive with her belongings and it was different for her to just hang her bag on the cart. Whats in her bag was her cellphone, id's and some cards.
Someone approached mom, she was in the chocolates aisle that time and the person asked her how does chocolates on that aisle taste like? Mom did not hesitate to answer and interact and told the person its delicious. Their interaction went a long while and my sister joined them losing her focus and attention on her bag that is hung on the cart. A merchandiser who is present at the time sensed something was off with a shopper. She saw a shopper holding a bag and that the shopper placed the bag he was holding inside another backpack and thats wherè he came up to the person and asked the person holding the bag and she said it was my fathers bag.
The said employee heard the commotion involving my sister and asked her what happening. My sister told him that her bag was missing and now the employee was certain that what she saw a while back was my sister's bag. They did not catch the culprits they ran away on a get away car. My sisters bag was recovered.Too bad the robbers ran away.
Moral of the incident? Do not trust strangers and do not leave your things and bags unattended.
Have you been in a snatching or robbing incident? What did you do?

Luckily I haven't. You really have to watch now. These types of people are all over. I think that it is a good idea to use a small purse or fanny pack that can be worn around your middle. Or carry just your essentials in a pocket. These types also have machines that they can scan your card info by just moving it across the outside your pocket. They are geniuses and are always thinking of something new, and a new way to get unsuspecting people's data.

This hasn't happened to me but it's easy to get distracted.
