Are there cobblestone pavements in your place?

Almost all the sidewalks and public squares in Lisbon are covered with mosaic-like cobblestones, which are called Calçada Portuguesa (Portuguese Pavement). Their designs are highly artistic, featuring motifs like wavy seas, wind roses, animals, zig-zags, checkerboards, multi-pointed stars, royal emblems, and historical dates. I love the environmental concept of this pavement, because the stones are unsealed and porous, they allow water to naturally infiltrate the ground and mitigate heat reflection. However, these pavements can become incredibly slippery when wet and uneven over time, making them a well-known trip hazard. Since I have tripped several times while walking on them, I learned the hard way that I cannot wear high heels on Portuguese cobblestones.

Not here but in my native city (Milano - Italy) there is cobblestone pavement in several places. A real pain when you wear heels.

I guess, even wearing stiletto heels can't be safe walking in that pavement because it would be a little bit of struggle pulling the heels if it'll stick between the cobblestone.

They do have them in historic parts of the country. I know I would be one to trip on them.

You just need to be more careful when walking on them
