We’re Having a Tropical Heatwave

As I have learned in Florida, you either freeze or roast; there is no in-between, so when the strong winds blow, stand up to them and cool off or stand in the pouring rain. As you can see, I have had quite enough, but no reason to complain; nothing will change anyway.
The thing is that you have to be creative. No matter what, you still have to have at least one meal a day in this heat???? So I have some creative ways to enjoy food anywhere the heat rises. I order from Walmart and have found a lot to like about the Great Value brand. Here are three creative snacks to enjoy just enough to fill your tummy.
Take a flour tortilla or two. Top with pizza sauce, top with slices of pepperoni, and top with shredded cheddar. I put it into my toaster oven for half an hour and have a nice pizza-like treat.
I order frozen buttermilk pancakes, top one or two with a pork sausage patty, and top with shredded cheddar. Bake for half an hour, and you have a nice snack to eat.
Finally take one or two frozen waffles. I chose to brown up ground Italian sausage in my electric skillet first. Top the waffles with pizza sauce, top with Italian sausage, and shredded cheddar. Bake for half an hour and you have another nice snack.

@DianneN Glad to hear from you. Well, I have to eat something, and in this heat it won't be a full meal. Right now my workroom has the AC and the fan on. Walking into the kitchen is like entering the oven. I remember my Connecticut summers when my parents gathered with other Latvians at a place in Westbrook with a garden for kids to run in and a small beach nearby.

@RasmaSandra Thank you! You are lucky to have a/c in your workroom. Growing up, our entire moder house was like an oven. My father didn’t believe in a/c until I left for college.

@Marilynda1225 that is the order of the day in this hear. Makes my head nuts as it also falls and irses rapidly, Had an afternoon thunderstorm and from the morning at 91 it is now 79.

One way I battle heat from the outside is to drink water or juice to avoid heat related sickness.

Today, we got a brief reprieve where it is only 72 F. That is unheard of in Oklahoma for mid June. And Lord knows we needed the break.

Sounds like Ohio, we have humid heat in the summer and sometimes sub-zero temps in the winter. We go from snow and cold to heat and humidity. We do get the occasional nice fall or spring day, but they seldom last. I remember when I was watching a Brit who came to America complaining about it being 74 degrees, and I laughed. I was like that actually sounds like a really nice day. I will still cook in the heat. I use our oven a lot, which makes the kitchen a sauna, but usually it's something i can throw in the oven, set a timer, and only have to go back in to take it out. The hot kitchen doesn't usually heat up the rest of the house, thankfully. I've been buying aluminum pans to cook so I don't have to scrub out pans in this heat. At least you have something tasty you can make in the heat.
