Lincoln Nebraska resident Sasha Mazrenko who is 11 years old was on his way to mow a lawn for his neighbor on Monday when he and his sister Iryna saw fire come from the garage.
Sasha called 911 on his cellphone to report to the authorities about a house fire. Lincoln Fire and Rescue firefighters came to douse the fire and rescue the residents inside of the home and their pets out of harm's way safely.
The firefighters estimate that the damage of the house fire that began in the garage is around $175,000 dollars.
The firefighters believe that the cause of the fire was accidental. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
Thanks to the actions of Sasha and Iryna alerting the firefighters about the house fire, no one was hurt.

If the fire started in the garage, perhaps the residents were not yet aware of it, as they were still in their house. The astute action of the teens, saved them from a larger burn to their house, and might just have saved their lives too.
