So, I am trying to make a herb garden….at the moment I am just sowing seeds ….a few things are doing well…the basil is amazing and the sage is getting stronger.
Chives are having a so so time.
My Oregano is coming through and so is my Thyme.
Still waiting for the second batch of Rosemary …..the first simply refused to grow !
Also still waiting on the Curly Parsley……
Having done some research ….i now think I need two herb gardens as they do not all require the same conditions ….
Do you like gardening ?
Do you grow herbs ?

I never was big with gardening. Hubby tried gardening a couple of times.

At our last house, I grew all kinds of plants. At this house, I have the indoor plants and some flowers growing in the flowerbed out in front of the house. I also have several pots of bare dirt on the front porch. I planted some climbing gourds, hoping I could train them to go up the posts to the porch roof but they didn't survive the first hot days we had since I can't go out to water them and Pretty refuses to water plants outside for me when I can't manage it.
The plants in the house are just leafy plants that don't bloom except the oxalis. Oxalis is a type of three leaf clover. The ones I have inside and out are edible and have small pink blooms on them. Once in a while, Pretty picks some of them to go in her salads. I used to pick some oxalis and added them to soups or stews but Pretty doesn't like them cooked so I stopped adding them.

I’ve tried, unsuccessfully, to grow herbs. They thrived, but unfortunately the slugs, snails, bugs, birds etc, ate them all before I did.
A lot of money wasted for little joy. I now get all my herbal needs satisfied by Tesco or other such reputable supermarkets.

@Traceyjayne Good luck with your battle with the wee beasties. It’s the nights that are the worst. You can go out into the garden at 10pm and admire your thriving plants, only to be devastated the very next morning by the trail of destruction left by said wee beasties. You may have to work in shifts with your partner or sleep in the garden to protect your parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme.

I’ve always wanted a herb garden …..just to be able to walk into the garden and pick fresh herbs for my meal seemed like a lovely thing to be able to do ….im easily pleased.
I’ve grown basil in pots before but i really wanted a herb garden….i will fight any slug or snails and shoo away the pesky birds ……
In my mind I see me drying my own herbs and maybe selling plants etc …..maybe I am getting too ahead of myself ! LOL ….

Our favorite herb to grow is sweet basil. I've tried growing rosemary, but it didn't seem to like the climate in my region. I would like to try growing oregano and thyme when able. My small balcony has mostly ornamental plans and succulents.
