Did you know that yesterday the 21st of June was the longest day of the year?

Yesterday, the 21st of June was reported to have been the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. They say our 365-day calender didnt align perfectly with the planet's orbit, hence the shift in the time to complete a whole day. Most people probably didnt notice this change, did you?

There was no shift in the time. Nothing about time changed. And it was the shortest day for the southern hemisphere all due to the tilt of the Earth's axis. It will all be the exact opposite on the first day of winter in the northern hemisphere. And once again it will have nothing to do with time. No one noticed a change in time because there was no change.
"The longest day of the year" refers to how many hours of daylight there are, not how many minutes/hours there are in the day. It is a 24 hour day with 60 minutes in each hour just like usual.

@ogbenishyna44 And like I said - 'longest' has nothing to do with time. The time yesterday in minutes.& hours was exactly the same length as all other days. 'Longest' in this sense means the amount of daylight in the 24 hour period. There was no time shift/change.

All days are of equal length, unless a leap second has been added. Leap seconds have only been added since 1972, and it happened every year or so, but none have been added since 2016 because the earth’s rotation has speeded up. Have you noticed?
