So, as everyone knows the World Cup is happening right now ….
Some folk are not bothered
Some folk are watching some games
Some folk are watching all games
There was a report that a Father had asked for permission to take his daughter out of school to take her to America to watch the World Cup matches.
The school said no…..the Father has taken her anyway, and says he will pay the fine if he gets one.
My question to you is this …..
Do you think it’s okay to take children out of school to watch the World Cup matches ?

I think it's a personal choice but if they traveled to see it in person that's a whole big difference than sitting home in front of the tv watching.

Do you think one week would make a lot of difference ……they would be off that long with measles ?
What about the experience and learning that would happen if they went ….?

@Traceyjayne Well, a child catching measles and needing to stay home from school is a whole different story. I think a child must stay home because measles is highly contagious. Parents need to be aware of the risk of passing the virus on to other kids if they send their sick child to school.

@traceyjayne Not so much, but it’s not the worst thing. Some schools are showing some of the matches in school.

Do you think it would hinder their education to miss one week ?
Some are off a week with mumps / measles etc …..
Do you think the experience, travel, supporting your country, seeing teamwork, having a sense of belonging , understand the rules of a game, might add to learning …and be good for well being and mental health ?

@Traceyjayne I understand your point but I wouldn't do that. It's another case If they miss school due to illness. But taking my kid off school because of world cup, nah..I wouldn't do that. They can watch it on the television.
