With my haul of free peanut butter I had to decide what to do with it. I decided I would use it for cooking since I don’t know for sure whether the person may have eaten some directly from the jar with a spoon, for example, so I didn’t want to just put it in the cupboard for the girls to eat in sandwiches. First I made a batch of peanut butter cookies. They are so delicious they never last long! On Saturday I made Indonesian style gado gado, a sort of salad with a spicy sauce, which we ate for lunch on Sunday as well. Then yesterday I made butternut squash and peanut soup, which was very tasty. We will finish that this evening. That’s used up one jar but there are three more. What shall I make next? A good source of protein too, because they are actually legumes. Now that everyone seems to be jumping on the 'high protein' bandwagon I'm surprised the jars are not labelled 'Good source of protein'!

@Fleura Sure I've seen it on bags of peanuts. I have a massive bag of them in kitchen, just in case

Can't go wrong with peanut butter cookies!!! Your butternut squash and peanut soup sounds really good. I love peanut butter and anything peanuts. Always have peanut butter on hand and a jar/can of peanuts. I'm just a big old nut lover

Me too! The soup was good, and very easy too. I bought a bag of frozen cubed butternut squash and it was only 4p more expensive than a fresh squash and saved me a lot of work! Recipe here:

That looks interesting (I just looked it up). Thanks! It sounds ideal for making in the slow cooker.

I'm surprised you made a dish from my country! I hope you enjoyed it. My husband and I always keep a few jars of peanut butter in our pantry. We use it to make sauces, dipping sauces, spreads, cookies, or peanut butter bars..

That is a challenge to come up with recipes requiring baking or cooking the peanut butter. I hope that you can research this and find some more yummy recipes.

I like peanut butter on a chicken curry. Peanut butter alone too, I like eating it.
