A Weird Painting, Revived - pt 3 - and DONE

Hey All, I am happy to say that I am finished with my abstract painting, "Pulse", and that it was accepted for the July art show. In the last post, I had made major alterations to the painting and was satisfied with the upper branching element but not the forms in the lower half of the painting, which were out of balance and needed some further refinement. I knew that to reduce the weight and volume of the larger form on the right I would have to recreate the color of the background, which made me a bit nervous because I feared it might look like an obvious patch. Fortunately, I knew exactly which color I had mixed for the pink shade of the background, Alizarin Crimson, and so I fished that out and mixed up a small amount with white. It worked! I was able to trim back the mass so that the size was more balanced with the left side, and I also was able to go in and add some lighter areas to break up the heaviness. I had initially also planned to add an element into the central area, but instead of doing that willy-nilly, I took my photo of the painting thus far and, using the Paint program, added the element digitally to see how it would come across. I decided it was not really that necessary, so I opted not to use it (I am sure Jimbo45 @Ineeddentures will appreciate my restraint this time!) Now that it's done and in the show, I just need to add the hanging hardware and drop it off in the morning. Maybe someone will like it and buy it, but even if that doesn't happen, I'm really glad that it's no longer sitting around unfinished and making me feel frustrated. I'm quite happy that it's all done and that I can go on to address other unfinished work. Productivity for the win!
