The flies are driving me crazy!

I am, currently, looking for my fly swatter! No joke, I don't want to hit these... things with my hands and Mom's favorite weapon really doesn't exist in the same form, folded newspaper. Even this morning I deployed my trusty fly swatter and got two of these monsters! Yesterday I had to stop counting. I got 3 or 4, maybe more that I failed to find, off just the back of the lamp over my desk.
SUCCESS!!! I found it!
But while I was looking for it, I had the funniest fly death EVER! This beast was walking on the floor. I grabbed a broken cat wand, the toy on the end was gone, but the bell and stuff still there. I first tried to hit it. Nothing. I tried again. Still nothing. So I started shoving the thing toward him. It ran. It had started close to the reach of the toy, and it finally chased him over near me and I stomped on it. These shoes are terrible at stomping so I made sure to rub my foot back and forth before checking on the state of the fly. It was dead. Maybe it was old. Maybe it had been injured the day before and could not fly. I don't know, but I killed it before I found the fly swatter!
Since I've not moved the flies seemed to have settled, but I can't stay still forever!

We hadn’t had one inside for way over a week. I really hate flies!! One came in somehow this morning, he has been murdered by my trusty fly swatter!! Good riddance!

@MarieCoyle I have a catio and the cats have flaps to get inside. The cat litter is inside and I have seen signs of maggots, so some may grow up before I clean the boxes, I do have 7 cats. I have heard I need to put stuff down the sinks for the tiny fruit-type flies. Last night they go so in my face, I had to put a fan on it so they couldn't go drifting in front of me. I did get them to hit me in the face, but around the edges and not drifting in my eyes. Even the big flies can't get in my face.

How did so many get inside? I only have one occasional fly, very occasional but that doesn't make me hate them any less. Mine usually get in here when I raise the garage door, one or two will get in the garage, and then when we go inside I suppose one follows us at times. I truly do not like flies or want them around.

There are only a few flies in the house bugging me when I am inside of the bedroom resting,

When the lights are out, they don't seem to be around me. Maybe they go into the window curtains...? I did have things shut down but the light I was reading with and while they came to that, it wasn't like with the over heads or the monitor.

Glad you found the swatter. That other method while sounding amusing also sounded like a lot of work

I got flies that gather on the outside of my screen in the kitchen and some venture in and I just whack them,

Annoying, but I dislike smushing them. I burn citronella candles and use insect repellant. I so sometimes use a folded news circular.

Smushing them is not what I like to do, but I have never found citronella candles or the like has ever worked. One year, I have no idea why, maybe the condo place my brother had some fireworks and wanted us to sit out on his balcony and lit a couple of those citronella candles and if we weren't basically sitting on TOP of a candle, they did nothing.

At least you managed to defeat one before finding the fly swatter.
