I have posted about the work that has been going on across the road from our house…..for months now, and it’s nowhere near completion. The house next but one to us was recently sold. We have heard several stories about who is moving in, and what work they are or aren’t going to be doing. It all changes on a daily basis. I came back from shopping this morning to find the front drive AND garden being ripped up. The back garden also is having most of the trees and plants taken up. It is so sad as over the last year we have lost so many pretty gardens and the small cul de sac we live in is looking more and more like a car park. I realise they have bought the houses and they can do what they want ….but, there is part of me that thinks. If it’s not right for you, don’t buy it and change it….just buy somewhere else !

I hate seeing trees and plants being cut down/dug up. We love our trees and flowers! Here is my favorite tree in my backyard:

@Traceyjayne isn't it neat? It's called a golden rain tree (Koelreuteria paniculata), although I believe the place we got it called it golden fringe tree (fringe trees are different, though). I love the size and shape, and of course the beautiful sprays of yellow flowers!

*shrug* People usually buy where they can afford to buy and make changes. That happens here, too. When Pretty and I moved into this house, we took out the gravel that somebody had filled in the front flowerbed with and put in potting soil and mulch along with the corms and bulbs we'd bought for it.

I guess they do what is financially best for them when it comes to what place to buy and which choices they’d have to make to get things done how they want them.

@Traceyjayne I do understand the disappointment. A similar situation happened to the neighborhood of my grandparents after they moved. It was senseless and unattractive. If they hadn’t moved they would have hated these changes.

@AmbiePam the two driveways that have already been done look dreadful …. The council have …No mow May ….where they don’t cut grass for the month to encourage wildlife …..then they allow people to rip up entire gardens …. Doesn’t make much sense to me !

I know …..I’m just being a moaning Minnie ….but, we live in a small cu de sac , only 16 houses / bungalows, and so to have nearly half the front gardens ripped up it making it look like a car park …. If somewhere isn’t suitable it should not be bought. Years ago you couldn’t do much that completely changed the area …..bring back those days….

It would be disappointing to see the gardens and trees disappearing.
